So it has been awhile yet again. I seem to find myself out and about more and more lately. The weather is just getting so beautiful. As the days go on I also find myself becoming more and more saddened by the fact that this semester from heaven is nearing its end. I have about one month left and I start to think back on how I made it here in the first place.

It was the summer after graduation and I had saved up for two years making breakfast burritos to sell every morning at school and babysitting my bum off to earn the money in order to pay for my ten day vacation around spain with my high school Spanish class. It was then that I fell in love with Seville and decided that I would one day be back and prefferably I would be living/ studing abroad there. Then as fate would have it I started my sophomore year at Texas Tech and didn't have to dig too deeply before discovering that they had a campus in Seville Spain.

Following this discovery I started introducing the idea to my parents about studying abroad so that it would not come as a complete shock to them when I finally made it happen, and I knew I would. They were extremely opposed to the idea at first, but this opposition then turned into one condition.... that I get a majority of the program paid for. So yet again I started working my bum off. The goal was to reach $15,000. This was achieved through about $3000 of finacial aid in the Pell Grant as well as a $2000 scholarship through Texas Tech with the Study Abroad Academic Competitive Scholarship. I also recieved a $1000 scholarship from my church and lastly I recieved a $4500 scholarship from an outside company--Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship. This left me with only about $4500 in need and through the help of loans and my many many hours of work at Starbucks I was able to come up with the rest of the neccessary funds, and now here I am! In Spain! A special thank you to SACS board, my church- South Georgia Baptist Church, and the Gilman Scholarship.
