Since my last post I feel I have done it all and will try to give it all to you in small doses over the next couple of days which I hope will make up for my lack of words since my birthday. This semester abroad has been divided up into two sections: The second half of this semester is comprised solely of a Spanish class that meets each day of the week for three hours and will provide me with 6 additional credit hours in the subject upon my return to Texas Tech. The first half, which has only just finished, I completed six additional hours of Spanish credit and three hours of an English credit that I need for my degree prior to graduating. Kind of ironic that I come to Spain to learn Spanish AND English, but it wasn't exactly a normal English class, it's a travel writing class. Designed to provide students with an English credit and really help them get the most out of their time abroad. We met twice a week for three hours each time for the span of about 8 weeks and in that time we read about 16 different published travel essays and held discussions over the style and content that were student led. We were also to write 1000 words in our journal every week and make the occasional post to the class blog. In that time we all also wrote four essays. Four very long essays. I have never considered myself very much a writer or very creative for that matter so this creative writing course proved to be quite the challenge and a major time dedication, and though it was stressful it was worth it. I feel that now I have four essays to take home with me that all depict my time and thoughts while studying abroad. These essays range from 1200 to 2800 words, and though they are definitely not pieces of art I am proud of them, well most of them. To prove to you that I haven't been absent from my blog for no good reason I will post my papers in a couple of links below. Keep in mind that I feel all of these still serve as only a draft to how I would like for them to be and that my better paper will probably be the last for it is somewhat representative of everything I have learned about writing through the course of the semester.
